Current Weather Conditions

Being located on a barrier island has its own unique impact on our local weather. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to our east and Currituck Sound to our west, we can experience changes in weather conditions in just a blink of the eye! Build-up of humidity can often set off a brief thunderstorm or rain shower in the late afternoon.

Wind direction is another factor, especially for those in search of marine related activities. Currituck Sound is a shallow body of water and tends to be more WIND driven, than tide driven. We strongly urge boaters and other marine activity seekers to always check the weather and wind forecasts before heading out into the water.
